Diablo 4: Renown Rewards Explained

  • Completing optional objectives awards players with Renown to buy Diablo 4 items, and here is how Renown works.

Since Diablo 4 opted for a more open-world type of gameplay, that resulted in Blizzard needed to add much more content to the game than what has been seen before in a previous entry within the Diablo series. While there have been certainly small-scale dungeons and optional objectives for players to pursue in Diablo 3, there is nothing quite around the scale of what Diablo 4 offers players.

    Diablo 4

While pursuing optional objectives like dungeons and strongholds gives players unique rewards like Aspects and opening additional Waypoints, there are more rewards that players can acquire for going from the beaten path. This is where the Renown system is necessary.

    Renown Explained (& the Rewards)

Renown is one thing that is earned by completing optional activities through the five land masses of Sanctuary. This system rewards players for exploring and spending time doing something apart from the campaign. There are five Renown tiers for every region, and they're unlocked by gaining enough Renown. It is important to realize that only three tiers of Renown can be found at the start. The other two are only able to be progressed by completing the very first Capstone Dungeon and unlocking World Tier 3. The rewards for every tier of Renown are listed below.

Tier 1: Bonus XP, 3,000 Gold, one Skill Point

Tier 2: Bonus XP, 10,000 Gold, one Potion Capacity

Tier 3: Bonus XP, 25,000 Gold, one Skill Point

Tier 4: Bonus XP, 60,000 Gold, 80 Max Obols

Tier 5: Bonus XP, 150,000 Gold, 4 Paragon Points

As is visible, rewards get progressively better as players complete more optional objectives and acquire more Renown. So if players would like to get the most out of the Renown system, they'll want to unlock World Tier 3 as quickly as possible. One important thing to understand is that a few of the rewards obtained through Renown are realm specific, while some are character specific.

For example, bonus experience and gold from each tier go towards the character that players are playing as. The extra skill points and increased potion capacity are realm-specific. So after they are unlocked, all characters may have those extra skill points and increased potion capacity it doesn't matter how much Renown continues to be earned on that character.

There are six types of activities that offer players with Renown, and also the amount they provide varies. Here is much Renown these activities give.

    Unlocking Waypoints: 20 Renown

    Discovering Areas: 5 Renown

    Defeating Strongholds: 100 Renown

    Clearing Side Dungeons: 30 Renown

    Completing Side Quests: 20 Renown

Finding Altars of Lilith: 10 Renown.

While players make the most Renown from Strongholds, you will find only 15 Strongholds within the game. So when they provide a good increase in Renown, the easiest method to get all of the rewards would be to simply do each and every side quest and dungeon since you will find so many of them.
