RuneScape is among the grandfathers of the MMORPG genre

  • RuneScape is among the grandfathers of RuneScape Gold the MMORPG genre. It's regarded among the most long-running titles available on the market, since its introduction in the month of January, 2001. The game was originally a browser-based one, but has had many different versions for its huge players.

From Old School RuneScape providing players with the experience of the classic 2006 and the brief-lived DarkScape giving players more PvP-oriented experience. Developer Jagex has teamed up with the board game developer Steamforged Games to release not only one, but two tabletop games in the year of 2022.

Steamforged Games' collaboration together with Jagex is the latest in a lengthy string of collaborations , bringing the biggest gaming franchises to a tabletop. The tabletop gaming juggernaut has produced board games based on games like Monster Hunter World and Dark Souls and recently finished an enormously successful Kickstarter campaign for the Resident Evil 2 board game that raised more than 1 million GBP during the course of the year.

Now, the game developer is aiming at Gielinor's world and RuneScape with plans to launch the game on a board and the core book for tabletop RPGs in the year ahead. The two RPG adaptations will have many of the most well-known characters from RuneScape and places, allowing groups with up to five players to play classic quests found in RuneScape with the adventures within the world of Gielinor home.

Players will be able to design and upgrade their equipment, communicate with NPCs and undertake many side missions inspired by the classic MMORPG. The board game will debut with an Kickstarter campaign later in the year while the core tabletop RPG book will be available in retail stores.

The essential book for tabletop RPGs will also be compatible with the massive tabletop RPG Dungeons and Dragons five edition primary books, allowing Dungeon masters to seamlessly incorporate elements of RuneScape into their campaigns.

Jagex Chief Executive Officer Phil Mansell was optimistic about the project and expressed his excitement over the Kickstarter program "involving people from the RuneScape players," and Steamforged CCO Mat Hart believed the "rich RuneScape universe is going to translate beautifully" into a tabletop-based environment.

RuneScape has been growing significantly since its initial browser-based launch over the past few years with Steamforged's boardgame being the latest effort by Jagex. In an interview, multiple Jagex employees spoke about transitioning the mobile version of RuneScape into the cross-platform edition in OSRS Fire Cape Buy September, the game was launched.
