So lately whenever I've seen a discussion come up debating between FFXIV and WoW, the majority of the men and women who call for FFXIV claim it blows WoW from the water, but also seem to only be talking about Retail, or comparing the graphics and berating the blocky 2004 graphics of WOW Classic. However from my time playing FFXIV it rubbed off to me like Retail WoW but with nicer graphics, casing, and more effective WOW Classic Burning Crusade Gold. The Jobs did not seem to have any"Class Fantasy" or Flavor like WOW Classic does. Black Mages don't have the capability to open portals they can not conjure food and water, hurry through dungeons and FATEs and just people do not seem to work or communicate.
The story is large and permeating, '' I did not want to overlook anything and it kept me from keeping up. WOW Classic though, felt like a story of your own making, like it has to do with the world at large rather than in combat or at raids, along with the course of your character feels. The class quests are difficult and interesting and full of taste. In the long run I feel as WOW Classic puts a excellent fight against MMOs due to it's statsRPG like gameplay, and Flavor that is all over WOW Classicplay, but I'm not sure. I see a whole lot of folks in every comments section stating FFXIV is better.
What killed it in fantasy for me personally was that the feeling on the planet. The loading screen between zones, with entrances that are particular and exit portals eliminates the world feeling that is open that an MMORPG should possess. The invisible walls everywhere kills it for the dearth of jumping, and me also. Feels static. I loved the Final Fantasy games growing up, I love the classes and bestiary and I truly wanted to like FF14, but it feels like such a limited and stiff game in comparison to WoW.
I had a friend explain it this way to me once, and that I never knew I held matters. I at least have a title for this though. FF fails the"empty amount" test, in my own opinion. And by that I mean that when I loaded into an empty ass blank white stage with my WoW character, odds are I can still entertain myself for a good period of time only with the movement mechanisms and any ability I may be able to spam around me (also the jump spamming naturally ). I would be hoping to run into walls, be unable to leap, if I loaded my FF personality to a white stage, and they'd find a way. It is why I do not play with The Division.
That is an excellent method of putting it. Now that you say it, I kid you not I spent two hours in my epic mount while getting carried away with a dialogue in discord jumping around in circles in stormwind. I didn't even realize I do it before the conclusion of the conversation, people who saw me probably wondered what the hell I do jumping around for two hours. Would have been just as amusing in an empty amount, movement feels great in contrast to any other MMO.
In the conclusion WoWs just feels so smooth in comparison to other MMOs over recent years. I have played aion wars, tera, etc and all felt kinda clunky with rubber banding. I havent played with the FF series so I cant comment buy wow gold classic. I'd really like to get another game like wow but refreshing as I've played with vanilla servers the past couple of years but nothing compares for me. Looking forward to legit TBC tho.
